SACO (WGME) -- On its 20th anniversary, the organizers of the Mary’s Walk and Kerryman 5K in Saco say they raised more than $270,000.

The fundraiser, which started in honor of Saco’s Mary Libby who lost her battle to cancer in 1997, has raised in total more than $3 million for the Maine Cancer Foundation in its decades of existence and that money stays in the state.

On Sunday, both cancer survivors and supporters showed up to hit the ground running.

"My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer last summer and she just got the all clear in November. We’re walking for her. We just want to pay tribute to her,” Samantha Goodchild, walker, said.

CBS 13’s Kim Block was the emcee of the event.
