Thank you for your support and participation in the 21st Annual Mary's Walk and Kerrymen 5k.  We were again blessed with overwhelming community support, registering 1,300 walkers, 662 runners, and raising over $210,000 to support the Maine Cancer Foundation and Maine cancer patients.  Mary's Walk was also honored to hear Governor Janet Mills speak at the opening ceremony and share her support for the cancer community.

We would like to acknowledge our top three fundraising teams in the following categories:

Friends & Family: KG Strong (125 team members)

Team Leader: Rhonda Petit – $12,490

School & Community: Lil' Folk Farm (7 team members)

Team Leader: Tracey Murrell – $2,225

Business: Monaghan & Leahy, LLP (40 team members)

Team Leader: Kenneth Pierce – 4,918

We also want to acknowledge our top three individual fundraisers:

                        Ken Janson, Saco: $3,985

                        Angela Wilder, Windham: $2100

                        Sam Green, Lyman: $2,045

Thank you for your hard work and support.  Our teams and individual fundraisers make Mary's Walk a unique community event in the fight against cancer.

Our sponsors are no small part of our fund-raising success.  This year New England Cancer Specialists was our welcoming sponsor.  The New England Cancer Specialists has supported Mary's Walk for 21 consecutive years, truly a remarkable record of community support.

For the 5th consecutive year, CRI-SIL Silicon Technologies of Biddeford was our presenting sponsor, donating $20,000 in the fight against cancer.  We wish to specifically thank Mark Stevens and Mike Hersey for their generous support.

Mary's Walk had 5 major sponsors ($5,000), including Ricetta's, Spectrum Health Care Partners, Worthing & Going, Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, P&C Insurance, and Thornton Academy.  Spectrum Health Care Partners, as well as Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution, have been contributing to the event, like New England Cancer Specialists, for 21 consecutive years.

Ricetta's purchased the old Kerrymen Pub and will be opening a restaurant this summer.  We wish to thank Ron Stephan of Ricetta's for his support and look forward to the opening of the restaurant.  Ricetta's is committed to supporting Mary's Walk and has informed us that they intend to preserve "Mary's Room" on the second floor of the pub.

We also wish to acknowledge our signature sponsors ($3,500) that include Southern Maine Motors, WGME13, Rewind 100.9, Unitil, and Libby O'Brien Kingsley & Champion, LLC.

We also wish to apologize for our mistake.  Sponsors who contribute $3,500 or more were entitled to have their business name on the back of our signature event t-shirt.  This year we inadvertently overlooked Worthing & Going, New England Cancer Specialists, and Unitil on the event t-shirt.  Our sincere apology.

As we close out our 21st annual campaign, we will exceed $3.5 million contributed to the Maine Cancer Foundation in support of Maine cancer patients.  Our success would not be possible without our participants and sponsors.  The Maine Cancer Foundation invests your volunteer dollars in Maine people in multiple ways.  Please visit the Maine Cancer Foundation website that details all of the innovative grants that are supported through your volunteer donations.

Until next year – Slancha!

Gene and Jane Libby
